Terms of Service

By accessing or using LangDex ("Service"), including our website, API, or any associated services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

LangDex is a universal linguistic database providing:

• Lexical data for 5,700+ languages
• Cross-lingual translations and semantic mappings
• Morphological, phonological, and etymological information
• API access to linguistic data

3.1 Database License

The LangDex database is derived from multiple open-source projects and is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

You are free to:

• Share - Copy and redistribute the data in any medium or format
• Adapt - Remix, transform, and build upon the data for any purpose, including commercial

Under the following terms:

• Attribution - You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made
• ShareAlike - If you remix, transform, or build upon the data, you must distribute your contributions under the same license

3.2 Website Access (Free)

Access to linguistic data on the LangDex website is free and requires account registration. By registering, you agree to provide accurate information and maintain the security of your credentials.

3.3 API Access

Programmatic API access is available in free and paid tiers. See Section 4 for details.

3.4 Prohibited Uses

You may not:

• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
• Use the Service to build a competing database without attribution
• Misrepresent the source or accuracy of the data
• Use automated systems to scrape data beyond API limits

4.1 Subscription Tiers

All subscriptions are billed monthly. We may adjust pricing with 30 days notice.

4.2 Billing

• Subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle
• You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
• No refunds for partial months
• Failed payments may result in service suspension

4.3 API Keys

• API keys are personal and non-transferable
• You are responsible for all activity under your API key
• Report compromised keys immediately
• We may revoke keys for Terms violations

4.4 Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uptime. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty.

5.1 Third-Party Data

LangDex aggregates data from open-source projects. Original data remains subject to its respective licenses. for complete attribution.See Data Sources for complete attribution.

5.2 Our Content

The LangDex name, logo, website design, and original documentation are proprietary. The database structure and aggregation methodology are our original work.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Accuracy or completeness of linguistic data
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement of third-party rights
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation

Linguistic data may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Users should verify critical information independently.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LANGDEX SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of profits or revenue
• Data loss or corruption
• Business interruption
• Reliance on data accuracy

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LangDex, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via:

• Email (for registered users)
• Notice on our website
• API response headers

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

We may suspend or terminate your access for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Abusive usage or exceeding rate limits
• Non-payment of API subscription fees
• Any reason with 30 days notice

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
